1980 Greco Super Power SE-380 in Vintage Sunburst

Here we have a 1980 Greco SE380.

It was sold to us as practically new old stock.

We have to agree, as we really doubt that there are any other Greco Strats from this era in such great condition.

Being made in Japan, along with the vintage woods, the quality of this instrument is phenomenal. Not to mention the great price.

Japanese vintage guitars are becoming increasingly rare as their popularity has been steadily increasing. These guitars from the late 70’s to early 80’s are especially desirable as this is the time period when the Japanese craftsmen were finally finding out how to manufacture incredible instruments before they were stopped by the famous “lawsuit”.

【Specs and condition】

Obviously in amazing condition, unfortunately, it does have some slight marks of use.

As can be seen in the photos, there is one section on the back of the lower horn that has been a little scuffed by the low quality gig bag these guitars came in.

The same gig bag has caused very minor swirl marks all over the guitar, but they are too fine for the camera to catch. Although practically invisible, if you’d like to make the guitar as beautiful as possible, swirl remover should take care of most of these marks.

Also in the photos, there is one small dent on the bottom of the guitar, as well as a small scratch. 

The hardware shows very very minor signs of corrosion.

Given the blemishes above, we don’t feel comfortable selling this guitar as new old stock, but it is definitely the next best thing.

No issues or repairs with the guitar at all and it even feels like it just came off the rack at a guitar store.

【Personal Impressions】

The thin finish has sunken very tastefully into the wood grain of the guitar, simultaneously giving it a vintage, yet brand new feel.

Somehow preserved in almost the same condition it left the shop, this is definitely something any collector would drool over.

But, with such an affordable price tag, this is also a great option for anybody interested in Japanese Vintage guitars, or just older guitars in general.
